Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work Jeune Fille Au Bord De L'Étang by Louis Emile Adan for USD 2,125.00 (€ 1,961.78). This price was achieved in the auction Master Paintings & 19th Century European Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Louis Emile Adan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work French la Leçon De Catéchisme in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 17,500.00 (€ 16,568.83).
