Auction result misses estimated price range
In May last year a collector was able to acquire the work The Latest News by Lorenzo Vallés for USD 11,970.00 (€ 11,154.60). This price was achieved in the auction Belle Époque Splendor: The Discerning Eye of a Collector at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lorenzo Vallés - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Paulina Borghese in Antonio Canova's studio, which sold at auction in July 2009 for GBP 22,500.00 (€ 25,530.76).
