Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of a man, bust-length, in a black slashed silk doublet with a Puntonari lace standing collar; Portrait of a woman, bust-length, with a lace ruff and gold chains by Lorenz Strauch was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2024, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,560.0 Other works by Lorenz Strauch have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2013 by the work Gegenstücke: Bildnis von Margreta Lengin und eines jüngeren Herrn mit Bart. at CHF 14,400.00 (€ 11,839.33).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait of a man, bust-length, in a black slashed silk doublet with a Puntonari lace standing collar; Portrait of a woman, bust-length, with a lace ruff and gold chains von Lorenz Strauch im Januar 2024 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.560,00 (€ 6.607,24) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Lorenz Strauch wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im März 2013 die Arbeit Gegenstücke: Bildnis von Margreta Lengin und eines jüngeren Herrn mit Bart. mit CHF 14.400,00 (€ 11.839,33).
