Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price
When the work Calligraphy by Liu Yong was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in February this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 30,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at HKD 201,600.00 (€ 24,225.47). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Liu Yong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy in April this year with an auction result of HKD 672,000.00 (€ 686,243.48).
Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy von Liu Yong im Februar diesen Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 30.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 201.600,00 (€ 24.225,47) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Liu Yong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 672.000,00 (€ 686.243,48).
