The work Red Plum Blossoms / Calligraphy in Running Script by Liu Haisu was sold in the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction at Christies in Hong Kong in May last year. It achieved a price of HKD 567,000.00 (€ 67,315.07), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 42%. Admittedly, works by Liu Haisu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Huangshan Mountain, Peach Blossom Peak in September 2018 with an auction result of HKD 4,720,000.00 (€ 519,435.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 42 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Red Plum Blossoms / Calligraphy in Running Script von Liu Haisu wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 567.000,00 (€ 67.315,07) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 42%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Liu Haisu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Huangshan Mountain, Peach Blossom Peak im September 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 4.720.000,00 (€ 519.435,55).
