Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In August this year Christies in Sydney held the auction Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century, which included the work Slavic Mother and Child at Ellis Island, 1905 by Lewis Wickes Hine. The »bidding war« ended at USD 17,640.00 (€ 16,274.56), 18% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lewis Wickes Hine achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mechanic And Steam Pump, 1921 in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 275,000.00 (€ 228,595.18).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im August diesen Jahres führte Christies in Sydney die Auktion Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century durch, in der auch die Arbeit Slavic Mother and Child at Ellis Island, 1905 von Lewis Wickes Hine zur Versteigerung kam.
