Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Léopold Gottlieb achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2009. In the Israeli and International Art auction, the work The Rowers sold for USD 20,000.00 (€ 13,338.67) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Léopold Gottlieb; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Femme Assise, Circa 1930 sold at auction in October 2011 with the realized price of EUR 25,322.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Léopold Gottlieb erzielte im November 2009 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Israeli and International Art wurde die Arbeit The Rowers für USD 20.000,00 (€ 13.338,67) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Léopold Gottlieb; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Femme Assise, Circa 1930 im Oktober 2011 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 25.322,00.
