Upper estimate price exceeded by 25 %.
In June 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings Including German, Austrian and Central European Paintings, The Orientalist Sale, Spanish Painting and the Scandinavian Sale, which included the work Austrian an Innocent Smile by Leopold Carl Müller. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,120.70), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leopold Carl Müller achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work German An Almée'S Admirers (Egyptische Tänzerin) in October 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,301,450.88).
