Auction result misses estimated price range
In February 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work A lady in classical dress plucking a harp by Leon Victor Solon for GBP 660.00 (€ 978.43). This price was achieved in the auction Christopher Wood A Very Victorian Eye at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Leon Victor Solon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A group of ten classical studies including: A love scene; A frieze; An archer; A pair of lovers; An angel with a rock; A nymph on a classical terrace; Three studies of women; and The lady missionary; (three illustrated); one inscribed 'Clear Types./O, which sold at auction in July 2007 for GBP 1,560.00 (€ 2,316.96).
