Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Early British Drawings, Watercolours and Portrait Miniatures, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman by Laurence Hilliard. The price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,676.02) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Laurence Hilliard - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A gentleman, in black doublet, white lace ruff, curling brown hair, sideburns, moustache and pointed beard; blue background, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 14,002.59).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Early British Drawings, Watercolours and Portrait Miniatures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman von Laurence Hilliard zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 3.676,02) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Laurence Hilliard mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A gentleman, in black doublet, white lace ruff, curling brown hair, sideburns, moustache and pointed beard; blue background beobachtet, die im November 2007 für GBP 10.000,00 (€ 14.002,59) versteigert wurde.
