From the series Choko sammei no uchi, a large lacquer box filled with fish, and decorated with a design of koto bridges (probably the symbol of a poetry circle), and a set of wrapped chopsticks on a yellow table beside a pale green Chinese pot of flowers, decorated with a dragon which may refer to the year of the dragon (1820), poem by Shofudai, sealed Shumman, very fine impression, good colours with extensive use of coloured powders, mica, gauffraging and burnishing

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2004 Christies in London held the auction JAPANESE ART AND DESIGN INCLUDING ARTS OF THE SAMURAI, which included the work From the series Choko sammei no uchi, a large lacquer box filled with fish, and decorated with a design of koto bridges (probably the symbol of a poetry circle), and a set of wrapped chopsticks on a yellow table beside a pale green Chinese pot of flowers, by Kubo Shumman. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,629.00 (€ 3,912.74). Admittedly, works by Kubo Shumman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Unknown in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 23,300.00 (€ 32,626.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion JAPANESE ART AND DESIGN INCLUDING ARTS OF THE SAMURAI durch, in der auch die Arbeit From the series Choko sammei no uchi, a large lacquer box filled with fish, and decorated with a design of koto bridges (probably the symbol of a poetry circle), and a set of wrapped chopsticks on a yellow table beside a pale green Chinese pot of flowers, von Kubo Shumman zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 2.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 2.629,00 (€ 3.912,74) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Kubo Shumman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Unknown im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 23.300,00 (€ 32.626,03).
