A top price for Kaws - as previously expected
The work Untitled (Kimpsons #1) by Kaws was sold in the Contemporary Art Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2019. The price achieved of HKD 57,877,000.00 (€ 6,615,255.49) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 48,000,000.00 – 68,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Untitled (Kimpsons #1) is the most expensive artwork by Kaws that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Untitled (Kimpsons #1) von Kaws wurde im Oktober 2019 in der Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Sale bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 57.877.000,00 (€ 6.615.255,49) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 48.000.000,00 – 68.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Untitled (Kimpsons #1) das teuerste Kunstwerk von Kaws, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
