The work Lip Totem by K. G. Subramanyan was sold in the Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art auction at Sothebys in London in September 2020. It achieved a price of GBP 47,880.00 (€ 52,795.48), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 60%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by K. G. Subramanyan - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mask, Icon, Mount, Mascot, which sold at auction in March 2013 for USD 185,000.00 (€ 144,350.81).

Die Arbeit Lip Totem von K. G. Subramanyan wurde im September 2020 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 47.880,00 (€ 52.795,48) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 60%. Für andere Arbeiten von K. G. Subramanyan mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mask, Icon, Mount, Mascot beobachtet, die im März 2013 für USD 185.000,00 (€ 144.350,81) versteigert wurde.
