Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ships on the Haarlemmermeer with additional vessels in the distance by Justus de Verwer was sold in the Old Master Paintings and Sculpture Online auction at Christies in New York in October last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,710.00 (€ 10,781.16) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Justus de Verwer have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April 2013 the work A River Estuary With Light Shipping In A Strong Breeze, A View Of Haarlem Beyond was auctioned for GBP 14,375.00 (€ 16,963.33).
