Auction result misses estimated price range
In March 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Sherwood forest by Josiah Wood Whymper for GBP 293.75 (€ 425.53). This price was achieved in the auction British Art on Paper including the Collection and Studio of at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Josiah Wood Whymper have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The haymakers in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,880.74).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im März 2003 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Sherwood forest von Josiah Wood Whymper für GBP 293,75 (€ 425,53) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion British Art on Paper including the Collection and Studio of bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Josiah Wood Whymper auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The haymakers im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.880,74).
