Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Joseph Wilton could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2015 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours auction, the work Study For A Decorative Frieze changed hands for GBP 438.00 (€ 594.78) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Wilton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Study of the Fountain of Neptune, Bologna and subsidiary studies of the ornaments in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 11,941.23).
