In January 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work A Pair of Portraits of Mr. Philo Franklin Wilcox and Mrs. Orpha J. Wilcox by Joseph Whiting Stock for USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,210.55). This price was achieved in the auction In Praise of America: Important American Furniture, Folk Art, Silver, Prints and Broadsides at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Whiting Stock achieve.
