Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A young girl holding a rabbit and carrying flowers by Joseph Vincent Gibson was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 375.00 (€ 295.69). Admittedly, works by Joseph Vincent Gibson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Preparing The Meal in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,634.99).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A young girl holding a rabbit and carrying flowers von Joseph Vincent Gibson im Oktober 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 375,00 (€ 295,69) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joseph Vincent Gibson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Preparing The Meal im Juli 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.800,00 (€ 2.634,99).
