This artwork by Joseph Uphues achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in February 2003. In the THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART auction, the work Hercules and the Stymphalian Bird sold for GBP 4,541.00 (€ 6,629.72) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. This high result makes Hercules and the Stymphalian Bird the most expensive artwork by Joseph Uphues that we have observed at auctions so far.
