Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Joseph Clark could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation auction, the work Study For Checkmate changed hands for GBP 1,063.00 (€ 1,285.25) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Clark achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three little kittens in September 2018 with an auction result of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 49,136.87).
