Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Flora Del Valle De México by José María Velasco was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,107.00 (€ 2,343.31). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by José María Velasco achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Valle de México desde el cerro de Santa Isabel (Valley of Mexico from the Hill of Saint Isabel) in November 2008 with an auction result of USD 662,500.00 (€ 521,900.11).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Flora Del Valle De México von José María Velasco im November 2004 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.107,00 (€ 2.343,31) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von José María Velasco erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Valle de México desde el cerro de Santa Isabel (Valley of Mexico from the Hill of Saint Isabel) im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 662.500,00 (€ 521.900,11).
