In November 2010 Sothebys in New York held the auction Latin American Paintings, which included the work Agustín I. Emperador De Méjico by José Maria Vázquez. The price achieved of USD 74,500.00 (€ 57,149.43) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Agustín I. Emperador De Méjico is the most expensive artwork by José Maria Vázquez that we have observed at auctions so far.
