This artwork by José Camarón y Boronat achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2016. In the Old Master Drawings and British Drawings and Watercolours auction, the work The Madonna and Child in glory surrounded by saints and putti sold for GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,115.08) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by José Camarón y Boronat have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Elegant Female Dancer, Wearing A Yellow Dress And A Blue Veil, A Servant Girl Looking On; An Elegant Female Dancer, Wearing A Pink Dress And Holding A Bunch Of Flowers in July 2009 with an auction result of GBP 37,250.00 (€ 42,267.58).
