Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work Diana Vreeland at home, 550 Park Avenue, New York, 21 July 1979 by Jonathan Becker was auctioned at Christies in New York in February this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 1,200.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at USD 6,930.00 (€ 6,536.50). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jonathan Becker - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work André Leon Talley, Chevalier de l'ordre des arts et des lettres, on the Pont Alexandre III, Paris, 30 June 2013, which sold at auction in February this year for USD 25,200.00 (€ 23,769.10).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Diana Vreeland at home, 550 Park Avenue, New York, 21 July 1979 von Jonathan Becker im Februar diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 1.200,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 6.930,00 (€ 6.536,50) mehr als fünfmal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Jonathan Becker mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit André Leon Talley, Chevalier de l'ordre des arts et des lettres, on the Pont Alexandre III, Paris, 30 June 2013 beobachtet, die im Februar diesen Jahres für USD 25.200,00 (€ 23.769,10) versteigert wurde.
