Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Van Diest could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in February 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art auction, the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Said To Be The Marquis De Karvigne, Half Length changed hands for USD 1,250.00 (€ 1,023.67) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Van Diest have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Captain Forrest R.N. in April 2011 with an auction result of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,504.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Van Diest konnte im Februar 2018 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art wechselte die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman, Said To Be The Marquis De Karvigne, Half Length für USD 1.250,00 (€ 1.023,67) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Van Diest auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of Captain Forrest R.N. im April 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.000,00 (€ 4.504,69).
