The work Montgomery shire by John Speed was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2007. It achieved a price of GBP 456.00 (€ 671.18), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 52%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Speed; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot “The Kingdome of Denmarke” sold at auction in September this year with the realized price of DKK 7,000.00 (€ 938.49).

Die Arbeit Montgomery shire von John Speed kam im März 2007 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 456,00 (€ 671,18) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 52%. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von John Speed; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit “The Kingdome of Denmarke” im September diesen Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von DKK 7.000,00 (€ 938,49).
