Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Reinhard Weguelin could be acquired at Christies in London in June 2000 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Victorian Pictures auction, the work Portrait of Mrs Jefferson, head-and-shoulders, in a white dress changed hands for GBP 70.50 (€ 111.75) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Reinhard Weguelin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bacchus And The Choir Of Nymphs 'I Saw Within Remotest Rocks (Believe That Read In After Time) Bacchus Who Taught And Nymphs In Flocks Who Learnt The Lesson Of His Rhyme' in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 91,750.00 (€ 152,415.00).
