Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2003 Christies in London held the auction TWENTIETH CENTURY BRITISH ART, which included the work Design for Stained Glass Window by John Piper. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,585.00 (€ 3,744.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Piper achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Abstract Painting, 1935 in November 2015 with an auction result of GBP 362,500.00 (€ 516,327.40).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion TWENTIETH CENTURY BRITISH ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit Design for Stained Glass Window von John Piper zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.585,00 (€ 3.744,69) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Piper erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Abstract Painting, 1935 im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 362.500,00 (€ 516.327,40).
