Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'Nabu-Naa-Kee-Schick or the One Side of the Sky. A Chippewa Chief', and 24 others from "The Aboriginal Portfolio" hand-coloured lithographs by J. Bariconu (and others) after Lewis, some short marginal tears, occasional toning or light spotting (25) by James Otto Lewis was sold in the Travel & Exploration auction at Bonhams in London in March last year. It changed hands for a price of GBP 3,570.00 (€ 4,232.64) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 2,000.00 – 4,000.00. Admittedly, works by James Otto Lewis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Plates From The Aboriginal Port Folio in May last year with an auction result of USD 37,800.00 (€ 35,225.05).

Die Arbeit 'Nabu-Naa-Kee-Schick or the One Side of the Sky. A Chippewa Chief', and 24 others from "The Aboriginal Portfolio" hand-coloured lithographs by J. Bariconu (and others) after Lewis, some short marginal tears, occasional toning or light spotting (25) von James Otto Lewis wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion Travel & Exploration bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 3.570,00 (€ 4.232,64) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 4.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James Otto Lewis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Plates From The Aboriginal Port Folio im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 37.800,00 (€ 35.225,05).
