Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Two Dogs Sleeping by John O'Shea was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 625.00 (€ 449.03). Admittedly, works by John O'Shea have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Tahitian (Youth) in August 2021 with an auction result of USD 3,570.00 (€ 3,025.42).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Two Dogs Sleeping von John O'Shea im Dezember 2008 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 625,00 (€ 449,03) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John O'Shea auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Tahitian (Youth) im August 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.570,00 (€ 3.025,42).
