Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2005 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES, which included the work The Thames, near Laleham by John Mundell. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 312.00 (€ 460.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Mundell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Rough Seas; Shipping off the Coast, which sold at auction in July 2003 for USD 2,151.00 (€ 1,747.36).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Thames, near Laleham von John Mundell zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 312,00 (€ 460,61) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von John Mundell mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Rough Seas; Shipping off the Coast beobachtet, die im Juli 2003 für USD 2.151,00 (€ 1.747,36) versteigert wurde.
