Sold at the upper estimate price
In February 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art, which included the work French on Guard by John Lewis Brown. The auction ended at the price of USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,637.87), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Lewis Brown have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Couple À Cheval Chassant Au Faucon in June 2010 with an auction result of EUR 14,281.00.
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Februar 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit French on Guard von John Lewis Brown zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 2.000,00 (€ 1.637,87) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Lewis Brown auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Couple À Cheval Chassant Au Faucon im Juni 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 14.281,00.
