Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work "General Woundwort" by John Lawrence was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,541.60). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Lawrence - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bigwig leading Hazel, Dandelion, Fiver, Silver and Pipkin away from the ditch; The Black rabbit; and Bigwig, which sold at auction in July 2003 for GBP 2,585.00 (€ 3,378.77).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit "General Woundwort" von John Lawrence im Dezember 2012 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.541,60) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von John Lawrence mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bigwig leading Hazel, Dandelion, Fiver, Silver and Pipkin away from the ditch; The Black rabbit; and Bigwig beobachtet, die im Juli 2003 für GBP 2.585,00 (€ 3.378,77) versteigert wurde.
