In January 2007 Christies in London held the auction The Lyndon Goodwin Harris Collection of Watercolours by Albert Goodwin, Joseph Edward Southall & Other Artists, which included the work Emblems of war by John Joseph Barker. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 480.00 (€ 724.21), 60% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Joseph Barker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Piper Playing To Figures In An Interior; And A Couple Beside A Fire In An Interior in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 5,019.00 (€ 7,763.26).
