Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours including Original, which included the work Fountains Abbey, Yorkshire by John Heaviside Clark. It changed hands for a price of GBP 478.00 (€ 722.36) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Other works by John Heaviside Clark have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in September 2001 the work Field Sports of the Native Inhabitants of New South Wales (Abbey Travel 2, nos. 101-110), supplement to Foreign Field Sports was auctioned for GBP 822.50 (€ 1,327.99).
