Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2006 Sothebys in Olympia held the auction British and Continental Pictures including Marine pictures, which included the work Guarding The Day'S Bag by John Gifford. The price achieved of GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,673.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Gifford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Day's Bag in January 2002 with an auction result of USD 35,250.00 (€ 41,016.99).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2006 führte Sothebys in Olympia die Auktion British and Continental Pictures including Marine pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Guarding The Day'S Bag von John Gifford zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.800,00 (€ 2.673,06) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Gifford erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Day's Bag im Januar 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.250,00 (€ 41.016,99).
