Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Offsoundings Yawl Cabin Plan by John G. Alden was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 125.00 (€ 97.63). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John G. Alden achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A yacht design for an auxiliary shooner yacht in July 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,800.00 (€ 1,312.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Offsoundings Yawl Cabin Plan von John G. Alden im Januar 2009 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 125,00 (€ 97,63) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John G. Alden erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A yacht design for an auxiliary shooner yacht im Juli 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.800,00 (€ 1.312,81).
