In November 2006 Sothebys in Olympia held the auction British and Continental Pictures including Marine pictures, which included the work View Of Sydney by John Drummond MacPherson Moore. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,771.74), 52% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Drummond MacPherson Moore; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Bronte beach, Sydney sold at auction in September 2010 with the realized price of GBP 6,500.00 (€ 7,517.94).
