Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts held the auction Modern & Contemporary Art | Bonhams Skinner, which included the work Two Part Invention: Blue Development 30 x 30 in. (76.2 x 76.2 cm) framed 30 1/2 x 30 1/2 x 1 1/2 in. by John Day. The price achieved of USD 1,280.00 (€ 1,173.45) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Day - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Double Progression II, Pompeian VI, which sold at auction in April 2011 for USD 4,750.00 (€ 3,204.91).
