Despite a disappointment, a good price for John Dalbiac Luard
When the work Nearing Home - Some Of Our English Land Birds Settling On The Ship, Told Us We'Re Nearly Home by John Dalbiac Luard was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 5,000.00 (€ 6,045.38). Despite this disappointing result, Nearing Home - Some Of Our English Land Birds Settling On The Ship, Told Us We'Re Nearly Home is the most expensive artwork by John Dalbiac Luard that we have observed at auction so far.
