The »bidding war« ended at AUD 776.75 (€ 467.19), 29% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Banks - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bathers, which sold at auction in September this year for AUD 2,091.00 (€ 1,274.47).
