In October 2006 Christies in London held the auction The Scottish Sale, which included the work Near Bank End, Dumfriesshire by John Crawford Wintour. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,227.23), 44% above the upper estimate. Other works by John Crawford Wintour have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 3,240.00 (€ 4,840.85) in October 2006 for the work Wetheral Abbey, Cumberland.
