In November 2006 Sothebys in Olympia held the auction British and Continental Pictures including Marine pictures, which included the work A Journey In Spring; The Return In Winter by John Charles Maggs. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,207.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by John Charles Maggs have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in June 2002 the work A Bristol to London mail coach with a hunt beyond was auctioned for GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,088.88).
