Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art and Dogs, which included the work A coach and four outside the Cock Tavern, Bishopsgate Street by John Charles Maggs. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,682.82) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Charles Maggs - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Bristol to London mail coach with a hunt beyond, which sold at auction in June 2002 for GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,088.88).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion Sporting Art and Dogs durch, in der auch die Arbeit A coach and four outside the Cock Tavern, Bishopsgate Street von John Charles Maggs zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.057,50 (€ 1.682,82) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von John Charles Maggs mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Bristol to London mail coach with a hunt beyond beobachtet, die im Juni 2002 für GBP 3.290,00 (€ 5.088,88) versteigert wurde.
