This artwork by John Behan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2011. In the Lyons Demesne Works of Art from The Collection ofThe Late Dr. Tony Ryan auction, the work Flock of birds sold for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,083.87) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 10,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Behan; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Blackrock Bull sold at auction in May 2013 with the realized price of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 27,767.46).
