This artwork by John Altoon achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in April last year. In the Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art auction, the work Untitled (ABS- 90), 1964 sold for USD 14,025.00 (€ 13,310.24) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Altoon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Trip No. 2 in November 2010 with an auction result of USD 80,500.00 (€ 61,752.07).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Altoon erzielte im April letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Untitled (ABS- 90), 1964 für USD 14.025,00 (€ 13.310,24) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Altoon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Trip No. 2 im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 80.500,00 (€ 61.752,07).
