Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ashurbanipal And Assur-Sharratt At A Lion Hunt by John Alexander Harington Bird was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,470.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Alexander Harington Bird - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Arab horses in the desert, which sold at auction in June 2004 for GBP 13,145.00 (€ 19,563.70).
