Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2002 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Pictures, which included the work The Warlike Gear of Old, the Matchlike by John Adam Houston. The price achieved of GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,520.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Adam Houston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sheikh in June 2020 with an auction result of GBP 68,750.00 (€ 75,716.21).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Warlike Gear of Old, the Matchlike von John Adam Houston zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 3.525,00 (€ 5.520,20) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Adam Houston erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Sheikh im Juni 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 68.750,00 (€ 75.716,21).
