Auction result well in line with expectations
In January last year Sothebys in New York held the auction The European Art Sale Part I, which included the work A View of Rome from Villa Borghese by Johann Jakob Frey. The price achieved of USD 23,940.00 (€ 21,352.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann Jakob Frey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Rinderhirten am Fluss vor einer weiten Landschaft., which sold at auction in April 2011 for CHF 108,000.00 (€ 84,084.20).
