Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mercury Encountering Aglauros At The House Of Herse And Her Father, King Cecrops by Johann von Spillenberger was auctioned at Sothebys in London in September 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,949.34). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann von Spillenberger - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Susanna und die beiden Alten, which sold at auction in May 2015 for EUR 10,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Mercury Encountering Aglauros At The House Of Herse And Her Father, King Cecrops von Johann von Spillenberger im September 2019 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.500,00 (€ 3.949,34) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Johann von Spillenberger mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Susanna und die beiden Alten beobachtet, die im Mai 2015 für EUR 10.000,00 versteigert wurde.
